In 2006, The Foundry was invited to take part in the nation-wide 365 Days/365 Plays, a year-long, national theater festival of 365 short plays written by Suzan-Lori Parks in which simultaneous productions of the plays took place every day in theatres across the country. Inspired by the amazing food activism we learned about in our FoodWaterShelter dialogues, we chose Parks’ Thanksgiving-days plays to perform over a meal to celebrate local farmers and food justice activists. This event launched our annual Free Range Thanksgiving gatherings, where theatre artists, farmers, food activists and a chef come together to share in the ‘bounty’ of what we each make.
